International vaccination booklet and social certificates in Mali

Hygiene services, town hall, civil status centre, health facilities

Several common procedures in Bamako require a health or social certificate: the international vaccination booklet to travel, the household certificate (certificat de vie collective) for a grant or pension, the certificate of indigence for social support. This page follows the five corresponding sheets on the Government of Mali's official procedures portal.

Key points (checked on 17 October 2026)

  • International vaccination booklet: hygiene services or some private facilities; 750 FCFA; vaccination free in public facilities.
  • Certificate of indigence: stamped request to the mayor, social inquiry; free; 3 days in principle, a week in practice.
  • Household certificate: civil status centre, family booklet; 100 FCFA; 24 hours.
  • Pregnancy and disability certificates: issued by a doctor; pregnancy certificates free in principle in public facilities.

The international vaccination booklet

It is a travel document: health services in the destination country may require proof that the traveller is vaccinated against certain diseases. You get it from any hygiene service, or from some private facilities named in the sheet (Polyclinique Pasteur and the Cabinet médical français in Bamako), on presentation of an identity card or an old booklet.

Check with the embassy or the destination country's official website which vaccines are required on entry.

The certificate of indigence

It certifies that a person lacks sufficient resources and gives access to some social support. You send a request with a 200 FCFA stamp to the mayor, filed at the town hall's general secretariat, giving your home address. The file goes to the deputy mayor for social affairs, then to the social development and solidarity economy service, which carries out an inquiry (identity, parentage, living conditions, household members, needs). If the mayor agrees, the certificate is signed and made available at the general secretariat.

It is free. Timing: 3 days at most according to the sheet, which adds that in practice it takes a week.

The household certificate

It certifies that a person's minor children are alive and dependent on them; it is required in particular for INPS pensions and the residential urban concession. The father, mother or guardian goes to the civil status centre with the family booklet or, failing that, a birth certificate extract for each child. The law requires the children to be present; in practice, birth certificates are enough, according to the sheet. Cost: 100 FCFA; timing: 24 hours at most.

Pregnancy and motor disability certificates

The pregnancy certificate is a medical certificate that lets a pregnant woman claim her rights. Documents: ID, prenatal consultation booklet and obstetric ultrasound results. It is issued immediately; its price varies by facility, but it is free in principle in public facilities.

The motor disability certificate proves a person's disability and gives access to certain social rights and benefits. It is issued by a doctor, specialist or not, with good knowledge of disability, on presentation of an ID; the fee depends on the health facility.
