Public contracts approved in Mali in 2026: examples, amounts and winners

Real contracts approved by decree in 2026: trucks for the District of Bamako town hall (508.83 million FCFA), excellence high schools in Ségou and Nafadji, Hajj air transport, amendments (Timbuktu hospital, Banankoro-Dioro road). Who approves what, and from what amount.

For a business, nothing beats real cases for understanding how public procurement works. Here are some contracts approved by decree in 2026 and published in the Official Journal: what they cover, their amount, their deadline and the company chosen. The page public procurement in Mali: thresholds, procedures and appeals gives the rules; this one shows what they produce.

Please note: this list gathers decrees published in 2026 that we have read. It is not exhaustive and says nothing of smaller contracts, which don't need a decree.

Key points (texts checked on 19 October 2026)

  • A decree approves the largest contracts; the lowest on this list is 508.83 million FCFA.
  • Amounts are given including all taxes (TTC), with an execution deadline counted from notification.
  • Amendments mostly extend deadlines, sometimes with no financial impact.

Who approves a contract?

For local authority contracts, the joint order of 19 September 2025 sets who approves what. For State contracts (high schools, Hajj, hospital, road), the approving authorities are set by decree no. 2014-0256/PM-RM of 10 April 2014, cited in the decrees above and whose thresholds we don't detail here.

Type of contractGovernor (region or District)Minister for local authoritiesCouncil of Ministers
Works100 to 500 million500 million to 1 billionover 1 billion
Supplies and routine services80 to 250 million250 to 500 millionover 500 million
Intellectual services70 to 150 million150 to 250 millionover 250 million

The Bamako town hall's truck contract (508.83 million FCFA) exceeds the 500 million threshold for supplies: it therefore falls to the Council of Ministers, hence the decree of 9 February 2026. Local authority contracts of a lower value are approved at a lower level, and those under the tender thresholds follow lighter procedures (quotations, price requests).
