🏛️ Communes and arrondissements of Bamako
Bamako's six former communes and the seven arrondissements created by the law of 13 March 2023: neighbourhoods, population and organisation.
Commune I (1st arrondissement) — Bamako
Commune I of Bamako: Banconi, Djélibougou, Sotuba, and the neighborhoods of the northeastern capital, between dense residential areas and emerging industry.
Commune II (2nd arrondissement) — Bamako
Commune II of Bamako: Niaréla, Hippodrome, Bozola — the city's oldest neighborhoods, urbanized since the colonial period.
Commune III (3rd arrondissement) — Bamako
Commune III of Bamako: the historic administrative and commercial center, Koulouba Hill and the Presidential Palace, Grand Marché Dabanani.
Commune IV (4th arrondissement) — Bamako
Commune IV of Bamako: Lafiabougou, Hamdallaye, Djicoroni Para — between neighborhoods perched on hills and neighborhoods in the river valley.
Commune V (5th arrondissement) — Bamako
Commune V of Bamako: Badalabougou and the university campus of the Faculté des Sciences et Techniques, on the right bank of the Niger.
Commune VI (6th arrondissement) — Bamako
Commune VI of Bamako: the largest and most populous, home to Modibo Keïta International Airport, Stade du 26-Mars, and the University of Bamako.
7th arrondissement — Bamako
Bamako's 7th arrondissement, created by the law of 13 March 2023: 7 neighbourhoods and villages (Kalabancoro, Kabala, Gouana, N'Golobougou, Kouralé, Missala, Missalabougou) and 468,915 inhabitants in 2023 according to INSTAT.
